Daniel Hershenzon is Assistant Professor of Literature, Cultures, and Languages in the Center for Judaic Studies and Contemporary Jewish Life at the University of Connecticut. He completed his Ph.D. in History at University of Michigan in 2011. His research focuses on the history of early modern Spain and the Mediterranean, the relations between the Spanish Monarchy and North Africa, slavery and captivity, Jewish, MUslim and Christian cultural intermediaries, conversion, and writing and its uses.
